Getting started

Quick start

This page takes you from a new environment to your first findings. Each step links to the detailed page.

1. Get your environment and owner account

SEK Systems sets up your environment (your organisation's own, isolated space) and creates the first account with the owner role. You receive the sign-in name and a one-time password through a separate channel.

2. Sign in and register a security key

  1. Open https://console.sek.systems and sign in with your name or e-mail and the password.
  2. Owners and admins must use a security key or passkey at every sign-in. The first time, the console asks you to register one: give it a name and touch the key (or use the fingerprint, face or PIN prompt of your device).
  3. You land on the Overview page of your environment.

Details: Sign-in and security keys.

Tip

Register a second key right away (Settings → Access & SSO → Add security key) and keep it somewhere safe. There is no e-mail reset; a lost only key means a support procedure.

3. Install the agent on a host

  1. Go to Agents → Add agent.

  2. Pick Linux or Windows and click Create installation line. You get one command, valid for one host for one hour.

  3. Run it on the host:

    Linux, as root:

curl -fsSL https://console.sek.systems/i/<code> | sudo sh

    Windows, in PowerShell as Administrator:

    irm https://console.sek.systems/i/<code>.ps1 | iex

  4. The dialog shows Waiting for the host… and then the host name with the status pending.

Details: Install on Linux, Install on Windows.

4. Approve the new host

A host that enrolled with an installation line stays pending until an owner or admin approves it. A pending agent already reports its inventory, but receives no jobs.

Open Agents, filter on Pending, open the host and click Approve agent.

5. Look at the findings

The first inventory arrives within a minute of the agent starting. SEK Systems matches it right away, so findings appear a few minutes later under Findings, sorted by risk. Start with the Act now bucket.

Details: Findings, How risk and priority are calculated.

6. Fix something, with four eyes

  1. On a finding, click Fix. SEK Systems creates a plan and runs a dry run on the host first: it checks what would change, without changing anything.
  2. A second person with the approver, admin or owner role approves the plan under Approvals, with their security key. You can never approve your own plan.
  3. The signed job runs in the maintenance window (or right away if you have none). The agent checks the result and rolls back where it can if something goes wrong.

Details: Remediation flow, Plans, Approvals.
